Explore the Old Town of Lincoln and the History of the Famous outlaw William H. Bonney aka Billy the Kid!
The Old town Lincoln County Courthouse located in Lincoln County New Mexico is one of the most famous towns knows as the last escape of William H. Bonney aka Billy the Kid one of the most famous outlaws in New Mexico! The courthouse was built in 1873-1874 and this is where Billy the Kid was being held until trial, where he did his final escape! During his escape he shot and killed deputy Bob Olinger by shooting him from the top of the courthouse out of the window! He also shot deputy J.W. Bell during this time! Just down the road across the street from the courthouse is the Wortley Hotel bed and breakfast! There are other numerous old buildings that are standing from this time period along with another museum. Every year the first week of August the local people celebrate the Last escape of Billy the Kid the famous outlaw! There they have a parade with food and a pageant for all local and tourist to enjoy all weekend!
Community Easter Event!
Easter Fun! This community event was hosted by the Tinnie Baptist Church for the local Children! This event had a jumper, games, and an Easter egg hunt for the children along with food! The children had lots of fun playing games and meeting the Easter bunny! We also attended another local event in Fort Staton NM, where we got to explore the local Fort Staton Museum! They also had a local Easter egg hunt for the children with lots of eggs and candy! Both events were great for the children and their families to go out and have a good time and have some fun with other community members!
Hondo Eagle Basketball Game!
The Hondo lady eagles played against the Carrizozo lady grizzlies! Today was the last home game before the district playoffs! The Hondo eagles immediately took the lead all the way up to the 3rd quarter, where it was a back-and-forth close game! The lady Grizzlies took over and defeated the lady eagles by five points!
The Hondo Eagles boys' varsity team also played the Carrizozo Grizzlies, and they were ahead through most of the game! But in the end got defeated by the Grizzlies! After a close back and forth game defeating the eagles by six points!
